As we all know Yuichiro's based off of Jadeite. The staff liked the idea of Rei having a love interest who moves in with her after her debut episode with Jadeite. Notice how Jadeite had hair that covers his face in her debut and only her debut just like Yuichiro.

Speaking of which, I can't believe they revealed that Yuichiro had to grow out his hair, so the police don't recognize his face. He used to sell these weight gain bars. That part of his past manifested from an unused plot where Jadeite sold weight gain bars as an adaptation of the Sailor V plot where a that happens. DiC included a nudge this detail although it was never mentioned in the Japanese version

None of the people who ate them were able to catch him from all the weight they gained though... that explains why he works at a shrine to "better himself" as well. It all makes so much sense now.

I've never seen Yuichiro and Jadeite in the same room, either. Maybe Jadeite returned in hopes of getting the Indigo Rainbow Crystal but this time fell for Rei.

lie version 2, naoko heard this song and was so angry that she decided to take revenge to the all the ones who speake the same language as the singer of da song but since she didnt knew in which language was that [BLEEP]ing song , and sincequeen naoko was too lazy to investigate that then she decided to take revenge on every language and thats how the english words in the cosmos movies got to appear.

Sailor Moon was originally going to be an all male main cast because Naoko wanted her own Super Sentai team.
They were not going to be called Soldier, Senshi, Guardian or Scout.

They were the Sailor Rangers.

170,000,000 years ago, the people of the Moon and Earth, with the protection of the Sailor Guardian Rangers, coexisted. This ended when the evil Witch Bandoryl started a war because of the death of her son Kaindymion. Bandoryl decided that the only way Kaindymion's death could be avenged was if she sold her soul to Queen Satanalia, an evil creature who had immense power. In the end, the Moon and Earth kingdoms were ruined and for some reason, dinosaurs and Pegasus (Pegasi?) became extinct. The Sailor Guardian Rangers sealed Bandoryl and her minions on the planet Nemesis before going into hibernation.
In 1992, Nemesis returned to Earth's orbit. Two astronauts accidentally released her from their prison.
With Bandoryl free, her arch-enemy, Artemis (aka the Boss) retreated to his underground lair 2,000 meters below the Crown Video Game Center where he pretended to be a lucky cat statue. There, he revived the five Sailor Rangers who had been in suspended animation to be awakened when they were needed. These five were each a member of the ancient human tribes, who coexisted with the Pegasi. With the aid of the Guardian Beasts, the Sailor Rangers fought Bandoryl and her Doryl Yoma and her five revived generals:
Pleprechite (Would have been Finsterite in the dub).
Grifforzite (would have been Goldorite in the dub)
Totpatite (Babooite in the dub)
Bookbachite (Squatite in the dub)
and Lamytite (Scorpinite in the dub)
