I am fully aware that the goal of this thread is to focus on positive things and I do not wish to derail the thread.

  • I ask for permission to discuss something I have heard from a YouTubber based in Mexico. It’s neither a bad or good thing, it is something that simply falls under the category of “neutral.”

Supposedly, Naoko Takeuchi did not like Moonlight Densetsu because the song is a rewrite of yume wa majorika senyorita and another song from the 1960s. She, again, supposedly, asked TOEI to change the song and even wrote Princess Moon as an alternative. By then, though, it was too late, because everybody was singing Moonlight Densetsu.

Yume wa majorika senyorita is a song by a pop-idol duo that was active between 1991-1992 (Sailor Moon came out in 1992). Moonlight Densetsu and yume wa majorika senyorita were also arranged and composed by the same people.

Again, this is a story I have heard from a YouTubber based in Mexico and I am not sure if it is true or if it falls into the category of “urban legend.” But if it’s true, I sympathize with Naoko.
I do like yume wa majolyca senorita (the majolica senorita of my dreams) because majolica is a kind of clay that was used to create brightly colored, beautiful pottery (earthenware) that emerged in the 1400s amid the Italian Reinassance. ^_^'

Naoko Takeuchi is one of the very few people in the world who seems to share my interest (a certain type of villain defeat very common in the manga) that the original Sailor Moon gave me (ironically through MotW's that were never in the manga). Others being Atsuhiro Tomioka (who wrote a few uncharacteristic episodes of POKEMON) and Akiyoshi Hongo (who wrote the Digimon series strongest with it). And Sailor Moon Crystal, which is based off the manga and has her input, is my favorite anime.

About Naoko Takeuchi. First of all, I want to say a big thank you. I don't know where I'd be or what person I'd end up becoming without Sailor Moon shining a bright light on me. As for compliments, she IS a trailblazer. Point black period. The way she mixed shonen-inspired action with romance and the portrayal of team work, gender and sexuality is absolutely revolutionary and it still holds up for the most part. The lore of Sailor Moon is by far the most complex and rich of any franchise imo. The nuances and the possibilities are endless.

About Crystermos, it managed to revive the franchise. The manga deserved a more accurate anime adaptation. I'm really fond of the music. I feel like it captured the atmosphere and aesthetic of the manga beautifully. Saturn's awakening theme, which also played during Endymion's abduction and in several other instances, is a certified banger. The Inners' transformation theme in Eternal has such a bittersweet essence to it which always moves me. Overall, I love how the composer incorporates synthesizer realness into his otherwise orchestral arrangements. Eternal Eternity ED is just *mwah*

Story-wise, Mamoru's character and involvement are far more nuanced and balanced. Chibiusa's trauma and growth is amazingly written. They're such central points of the story so I'm very happy that I can enjoy them more this time around. I feel like from Season 3 onwards the franchise found its charm and balance between comedy, drama and the fairytale aspect of the manga. I can't wait for the Cosmos movies!

Honestly, if Bandai and an anime studio did something to CLAMP what they did to Naoko in Sailor Moon in the final arc, CLAMP will put that work on hiatus seeing what happened to X.

According to my understanding, X was a big story.

CLAMP put X on hiatus because the editors asked Ohkawa to tone down the violence and they were not okay with it (speculation from my part).

Apparently, the women of CLAMP do what they want. Many fans say that CLAMP disowned the BeeTrain/NHK “Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle” anime because NHK and the sponsors wanted a lighter anime and NHK disliked the Tokyo Revelations Arc.

As for Naoko, I think that a manuscript is very important. You are mapping the skeleton of a story and developing your ideas. And Kodansha lost her manuscript.

Naoko changed the story of the Stars manga differently from what she initially envisioned, I would have preferred if she stuck to what she was planning initially instead of changing the story just because she got affected by the change of the 90s anime Stars plot, I would have respected her more in that scenario.

According to my understanding, TOEI told her that Stars would be the last animated season. I think it made more sense for her at the time to conclude the story (and I think she concluded it very well) and start a new project.

CLAMP would have put it on hiatus and there would be no closure.
Although I would have preferred if TOEI and Bandai told and made it clear to Igarashi's team and Naoko that TOEI and Bandai wants to create their own story for Stars for the anime Starlights arc before Sailor Stars aired, we could have had the Sailor Moon La Cygne and we would have avoided the inconsistencies and false foreshadowings of the 90s anime and we would also have the initial ideas of Naoko in the Stars manga fleshed out and with fewer issues in writing because she would have only one plot in mind for the Stars manga.

I came across this video a few days ago, I like Naoko's independence (almost rebellious), the superiors she had make me die laughing, leaving the magazine in the hands of their ideas would have failed shortly thereafter (thank goodness that they had started to open up with proposals from their manga artists' works), and Togashi made me die... What do you think about marriage? Well, watch the video and you'll find out!

^ There should be a manga/anime about their romance & marriage. :D
One of the “Sailor V“ chapters shows Minako working as an assistant for a famous mangaka. Upon getting paid a lot of money, Minako tells Artemis that she wishes to be a manga artist, find a partner in the industry, marry and “have an eventual retirement of bliss.” :mameshiba:

- Naoko is an inspiration....from her I learned about making sure whatever you create, make sure you own complete control when needed.

- Naoko gave me a better hope with Collaboration. That word was my kryptonite but I like how Naoko collabs with these different brands and still makes bank.

- Crystermos, even though the senshi had small screen time and usually became hive minded Moontards...thank you for the attempt on their transformations in S1. The movements were in the right direction. Also, some of the battle scene were nice and you brought back real-time attacks in a nice way.

- Crystermos, only you could make Umino the creepiest character alive in S1. Shadow Umino is still disturbing.
