Season 1 Crystal Mamoru is creepier than Season 1 90’s Mamoru

People be saying that because of the 3 or 4 year age gap in OG SM anime everything is creepy plus weird between Usagi and Mamoru’s interactions. Season 1 Crystal Mamoru exhibited more of that creepy behavior that most refer to yet that’s the more favorable version between the anime.

- 90’s Mamoru just happen to run into Usagi whenever they saw each other vs Crystal Mamoru stalking her around throughout most of their bump ins plus interactions. If you want to say it’s because he thought she looked like SM, that makes the so-called “more natural “ attraction between Crystal UsaMamo less convincing since he only gained interest in his interactions with her because she looked like Sailor Moon.

UsaMamo kiss exist in both versions except that:
- 90’s Mamoru didn’t have control over TM persona plus was not completely aware of himself and his own actions versus Crystal Mamoru knowing he was “stealing a kiss” from her.

-Crystal Mamoru has Usagi wake up in his bed in his apartment. OST would get on 90’s Mamoru for this plus claim that he should have brought her back home.

Still need get into Crystal and Manga I'm such a procrastinater. I find 90's Mamoru sorta interesting, depending on how you look at him he's either a big creep or not creepy at all

So yeah pompous sunglasses guy is the too cool for school older boy living on his own, I guess I can see why Naoko would make that the attractive boy of the series, makes sense. But juxtaposed to that independent and cool flair you've got him riding the kiddy train in season 1. Season 3 awkward kissy moment and I think R movie has one too if your willing to count that. Then he's a tragic backstory kid at that which I find in my limited experience to actually be realistic. He's mature in some ways and stunted in others, while Usagi has her knight in shining armor angle and I guess Mamoru feels he has a level mentality in certain aspects like the awkward giddiness of first love or something.


I can give Mamoru a pass because the series frames it as ok but if I was Mr.Tsukino bro is NOT dating my daughter, ain't no way

I never found Mamoru creepy, just a little basic. He was badass in Classic though. He had several decent fights.

I think if we just compare season 1, anime Mamoru was better as a character, with more development and his own circle of relationship with others. He also kept part of his personality after becoming Dark kingdom commander until late.

Just that the romance was too rushed.

Him having his own life and friends, well, Motoki and sort of Rei, made him feel a lot more complete as a character. Past the first season, did he even talk to anyone other than Usagi and Chibiusa on the regular? He's the darn future king, yet the girls who will be essential in his kingdom might as well be strangers to him.

Anime! Seiya is based on Manga Mamoru that is why he is creepy basically, a lot of Manga character expies were introduced in Stars including the Ibuki guy which is based on Rei's grandpa in the manga.
