The financial success of the franchise explains why there're no brand new creations from her over the decades - ironically, success has killed her creativeness. *sigh*
Which also could explain how the PQ Angels manuscript was lost on purpose. :googly:

For her the saga is complete. Obviously she doesn’t want to create new manga stories. That’s her right and whether the franchise is a financial success or not, it’s her choice as an artist to declare Sailor Moon as complete project. She could though allow Toei to create original storylines, based or not on the side stories.

She gets money from Bandai, CLAMP even if they are very much successful aren't like that.

She was unhappy about that though lol.

More like the manuscript was trashed by the publisher because it wasn't an immediate success
PQAngels reached TOEI actually.
At least it became an inspiration to FW Pretty Cure and Maxheart so it did not really end in the trashbin.

Or allow another manga writer to do that.

Different manga writers make different choices after success.

Sailor Moon became what it was through a collaboration. It wasn't just Naoko by herself who thought if everything. However, I do respect that she doesn't want to deal with the stress of creating a manga or more story because I'm pretty sure the time restraints bothered her just like they bother the actual folks who have to animate the show.

Naoko has a family and she pretty much is living the dream Usagi always wanted.

I dont think it would be bad if we got another adaptation or something though. We still don't really know what's in store for the future of the series though. Anything is possible when dollar signs start popping up...

I can imagine her descendants handing out the rights if it means they can continue living with a major income stream like she has.

I think it is good for her to go quiet and avoid public social media, not like J.K. Rowling who is in similar circumstances.

I think Naoko knows her limitations and how to maintain her reputation well.
this!!!

So many people always talk about Naoko badly because she hasn't done more, but she knows when to stop and has enough sense to step back.
She paid her dues when creating the manga and was overworked by the end and I'd much rather her never making manga again and living her dream life than passing away from stress brought on from working on manga for "fans".

Understandable, of course. But then, at the same time, it might sound not very wisely to critcize what others make of your original source material and for the changes. I say, let them try (and possibly fail) or just continue doing it yourself better. ;)

Eh... i don't think its this easy when you hold a work of your own so closely to your heart.

JK and Harry Potter are worth billions of dollars.

Harry Potter pretty much dances around Sailor Moon in terms of profit.

I agree it's fine for Naoko to chill, after the hard work.

JK is just riding out the storm letting loose the lightning bolts. Regardless of what she has to say, Harry Potter still brining her coins.

Naoko is living her dream life just like Usagi, and her hubby brining in those coins too from his works....I guess he's Endymion..

I wonder if their is a Harry Potter Sailor Moon crossover in the fan fiction section?

If they make Stars and it’s exactly like the manga….. it will be a hot mess lol
The problem with Stars is the too-fast pace, same with the other 4 arcs, though.
I get that she wipes everyone out for some kind of shock value, so we see how sudden it is for Usagi and how she doesn't even get time to grieve or even move on from one death before she's hit with another.
It's both a strength and a weakness.
The worst part of it in my opinion is the Sailor Star Lights. So boring, so pointless. At least the manga does just treat them as side characters unlike the 90s anime that spends too much time on characters who don't matter in the final arc when we should be focusing on the core group more.
