The new Urusei Yatsura coming out is by David Production, confirmed for multiple seasons and rumor has it that their A team is involved with this show while JoJo Part 6, which is being worked on at the same time, is by a side team so it better be good.
Damn Stone Ocean is being made by a side team? It looks miles better than DU (that season was Crystal levels sometimes lol)

How can you still think that’s the reason? The obvious problems were the tight schedule and low priority/outsourcing. Another problem was the panel by panel/using the manga as a storyboard choice. And finally, a lack of artistic and creative freedom.
Yeah I don't see how Crystal could be any closer to the manga. Sure they did a few (questionnable) changes, like Shitenno and Venus not killing Bery, maybe suppressing some dialogues here and these... but it doesn't change the big picture.
I suppose this would have been more acceptable for viewers if art was at least pretty to watch, but that wasn't the case. Eternal had the same problem but the art was acceptable so it was a progress, even if the should have cut log of dialogues to make it bearable (PURINSU PURINSESUUUUUUUU!!!)

If you know you are adapting a whole story, you write with that in mind. If you are constraint with a couple of story arc, not knowing if you are going to cover anything beyond that, you are way more limited. Also it would have made the format of the show consistent and I am sure they would have put a lot more care to a tv show project that adapts a full manga and is envisioned to continue for 5 seasons compared to ona that adapts two arcs which was Crystal initially.

If I were them, I would make 2 movies for Dark Kingdom, Black Moon, Dreams and Shadow Galactica Arc, and 3 movies for Death Busters Arc, and 4 movies with original plots, take place in "peaceful time" between the big 5 enemies.
While I agree that the two SME movies has short length, they didn't use the screentime wisely. Characters have to talk in turn (Princess Mercury, Princess Mars...), the movie doesn't focus on important scenes enough but waste time for trivia ones, the dialogues are too long, they could have paraphrased 30% of them...
Am I the one that doesn't like Moon Effect being used in the final battle? They should have used a grand instrumental song, like the battle with Death Busters in Sailor Moon S.

Yes I think it was a good idea on the paper but didnd't work in practice. They had to adjust to the song tempo and lenght, and all these events seemed super rushed because the song has a speedy tempo.
moon summoning new grail / all princesses forms and sailor power guardians / eternal sailormoon transformation / everyone eternal form / Neherenia dead => all that in 6 minutes... Way too much.

Moon Effect should have been shorter and started later in all these events.

It did come off as rushed. Like TV episode rushed. You can compare the scene to any of the 90's movies, especially the R movie with Moon Revenge playing and the struggle to save Earth.

I still like how Nehellania got banished though. It was a beautiful "demise" and it was nice to see Sailor Moon actually move with those Jurassic wings behind her.

I think the second movie was missing a scene of the Inners fighting in their Eternal forms. A scene similar to how they fought the Snow Dancers towards the end of the S movie would have been a nice touch.

Besides Mako deserves to punch something in the face after what they did to her Oak Evolution in part 1.

In a Sailor Moon FB group I used to be in, there was a running joke that said Naoko could die early, so her kids wouldn't be as protective of the franchise's story and we could see future animated adaptations being given more creative freedom than Crystal has.
Of course we never wanted Naoko to die and were well aware there wouldn't be "Sailor Moon" without her.
It was just a joke, but I really wish she gave up on supervising and handed over the task to someone else at PNP. Someone that doesn't take ages to finally sit down and approve foreign anime and manga releases would be pretty neat, tho. ^_^'

I remember reading online that Naoko's networth was between 1 and 5 million. I thought it would have been more than this after all these years, especially considering the franchise itself is worth billions. Not for sure if that's her actual net worth these days but meh.... I can only imagine how those Sailor Moon proceeds are spread amongst the owners ofnthe franchise.

It might be the reason she is so protective of her part of the ownership?

I really doubt someone featured in a American TV show back in 1995 showing love for Porsches and jewels would have such a low networth, especially being a lot more powerful than she was back then. She didn't even receive royalties for international airings, but now she does :mudkip:

Her being so over-protective might be the result of a trauma of exploitation. On one hand I’m glad because that means a certain level of quality…wait, Crystal happened. How?

I really want to see early productions stages of the reboot, that caused the long delay.

Japanese are very coy with such things, you rarely hearing them admitting problems in production and behind the scenes drama.

The most amusing thing for me is that she literally takes A TON of time to just sit down and read contracts or analyze materials. Manga publishers and even Toei have blamed that for waaay too long delays in international releases, like the Brazilian Eternal Edition and the re-release of the classic anime in Spain.
If she's just unwilling to take her time and has a company, why don't put employees on charge of it? :?

well yeah but no thanks
That could mean toei would have more creative control over the sailor moon anime and yeah it sounds good but sadly is toei we are talking about lmao they would give us a mediocre story just to keep the merch sales up and I wouldnt be so interested in SM as a franchise, after all I started to read the manga ‘cause the Crystal project got my attention after being announced (I feel in love with the very first art keys)

I share your fear but in a way, the franchise will need to evolve somehow because after Crystal, they will have adaptated fully the manga (main arcs anyway) and I don't see them rebooting again an anime series with exactly the same manga basis.
They don't have that much choice: let the franchise enter a deep sleep state for some years ? Or create something totally new with Takeuchi's input, but she doesn't seem to want to create even new basic scenario or plot. Which is a shame because her manga has a lot of plot holes and vague explanations that could totally be filled with new stories.

Perhaps an anime based on PGSM and the myus.
