I honestly do think that SME looks a lot better here.
So do I when it comes to character models. The animation though depends on the frame to move smoothly. Still the speech itself is fluid enough. Still they should have hired the animator to do it again, instead of someone else retracing his work, while skipling frames. I am glad the bubbles are going on her hair, but so is the highlighting. :(

When you look closer at SME's frames, you will see they are too similar from each other, or too different from each other, and each picture lasts for 2 or 3 frames --> bad movement, lazy animation. That's why most people prefer SMC3 when putting in comparison. The design of SME may look closer to manga, but the movement is not real.

Still it was not really real in s3, more like noodly plus everyone looked ugly. If this was a tv season nobody would complain. Sure this is lazy by movie standarts, but if they put more effort in the individual transformations, I can live with it. With Sailor Moon itis usually about the artstyle and not so much about the animation, so it is on for the expense of the other. At least keep them pretty.

I still wonder why they made the lines so thin? Because it will be on a big screen?

The Sailor Moon transformations though always were about the animation.

The thinner the lines the more accurate they have to be to look good. The thicker lines in the 90s made it easier to stay on-model.

DB Broly had thick lines. I prefer the thick lines.

I also like the thick lines, like in s 1, but...

They look fine. Don’t get me wrong not a massive fan of the transformation but things look alright, if not nice. I’m not sure why the microanalysis, but then again it’s going to be so long till we get anymore footage that it makes sense for anymore to stress about every little detail. I will make a major decision if I can trust thing or not when we get a complete trailer with new footage.

This is their main fault. If they released original footage and not retraced most people might have been so happy and gushing over it, and then once we have the whole film we wouldn't look at tge retraced stuff so much if at all....

I'm not a fan of SMC3's character design. And the first time I watched Act.27, I thought it was very OK, especially the transformation and the speech. However, the moment I saw SME trailer, I knew something was off. My friends and I had the same opinion.
In 90's anime, the transformation scenes in the last 2 seasons are somewhat boring and stiff, compared with previous ones, and those two are the ones they shouldn't have copied. They were very successful with SMC3's transformation. And we couldn't think they would trace it, on a much inferior level.
If they gave us something new, we would skip the sloppy frames. But they even didn't do well at tracing...
There's no reason for waiting a new transformation for Inner and Outers.
If it's like this, I won't be surprised if they trace Eternal transformation and Therapy Kiss attack.

Still we are not 5, flshy transformations are for selling stuff for kids. I hope the budget went elsewhere, I hope this is the case, just show us already!

SMC3 is a late night anime, that means it's for adult audiences. Yet the transformations were very neat.
What's important is how long each movie will last. I know if it's the battle, the pace can be fastened for intensity and to save time.

the transformations in s 3 were just as lazy, they were just original so you didn't pay that much attention. In sailor moon one there is like 5 seconds of just her bangs moving with 4 frames on loop, and look t her skirt animation and compare it to th similar skirt shot in Saiilor Moon R . Mars broke her neck and Venus showcased her Pinoccio nose. They were not better, just new and got the advantahe of being 2d after the cgi ones, otherwise just a choppy and weird due to odd cuts and very low frame rate. Mercury was the only decent one and even her bangs moved with 4 frames. Then you watch Violet Evergarden and see how hair should be animated. Even Crystal s 1 and 2 had better hair animation at times. But mostly the weird cuts killed Sailor Moon transformation for me. In S she looks like swan, in s 3 she looked like one as well, a duying one. An the Jupiter turning animation missing all the inbetween frames. I am not Saing Eternal is better, but it is not any different.

Sailor Moon Crystal is for adults? Then why are they censoring content from the manga?
It’s for adult women who like to buy expensive make-up merch and because they can’t see blood on tv villains get defeated by cracking their necklaces.

I hope that you're being sarcastic about the censorship as well as the target audience remarks. If they wanna buy makeup ...whats it to anybody, anyway? They probably bought enough plastic **** for the franchise as kids, they may as well get use out of their money as adults.

I couldn't stop laughing at that necklace scene XD Probably the craziest thing I've ever seen. Almost felt like "See Usagi? This is why we should've given Minako the sword" lol.

Ah well, things improved after season 1 so I can forgive it xD
