Yeah, they almost definitely didn't have enough time to correct the whole thing throughout. They focused on the close ups, the most important parts, though. I really hate it when people use terms like "derp frames" on sequences with a ton a movement like this version of World Shaking.

Could it look better? Sure. Did they have the time to redraw a bunch of frames when these movies were probably rushed? Doubtful. Does it look good *in motion*? From what we've seen, yes.
It’s really fluid but those frames are just.. really disappointing from an attack that is meant to be ‘stock footage’ (I’m sure it’ll get reused in Stars)

It’s also disappointing that some Senshi clearly got preferential treatment in the added sparkles department while others like Jupiter got the most basic retrace. I know we aren’t in the 90’s anymore but I don’t think it’s too much to ask.

Anyway back to my initial point, I don’t know in detail the production of the movie so it’s not fair to put the blame on anyone but it’s just frustrating to see the potential there but having it fall short due to a few small things. But what is done is done and we just have to accept that this is the final product at this point.

Where is the ton of movement though... I am really not hating. I am not picking up a fight, but it doesn't look like she is moving at all, it is the effect that does. Her hair goes goku and the camera zooms out, that is all that moves. With the old version by making her knee saved them to draw a distance messed up face. I still love the idea, and I appreciate them taking some risks.

Yeah, I'm still not a fan of Jupiter's treatment. It looks badly rushed. It's so much flatter in shading than the others, even.

If they do reuse this stuff for Stars, I hope they polish it a bit when they switch out their fuku.

Jupiter attack is the worst. It's far away from Mercury, Mars ( the best ones ) and Venus treatment. It's not even a retrace of the 90's one which was really good drawn by Ikuko with a first close up of her eyes like Neptune and then the camera goes to her full body. In here we dont even have a frame with her full head. You can't even barely see her leaf crown. She has her head cut which is really weird. Its just a sparkle from the heart in her chest to the head and then that spin. Not even the close up shots are detailed, look very flat and they are missing shadowing. Mercury and Mars are really pretty and the effects are amazing. Venus also has a nice close up shots with the kissing. But Jupiter is just... her spinning with a poor drawning job and got rid of the close up shots of her face.

Still the stock footage is not everything. They might fix it for Stars. Still there are so many more important scenes, we have seen some and they do deliver 80 percent of the time. Cannot wait to watch the movies, then re-watch them via Youtubers reacting on them. I love that part.

Yep but we all know the importance of attack/transformation sequences in Sailor Moon. They have been a big part of the impact that the 90s anime had. These scenes are always the most iconic and remembered parts of the series. Its sad to see some in Crystal that are cheap looking.

For me they were honestly the toilet break while on tv and the part I skip later on when I got it on DVD, especially the transformations.

In Starts they better step it up. I wonder how will they handle the majority of it with Usagi being alone and using the same attack several times. Hope they go the real time way. It would be so stupid otherwise, especially if they are doing movies.

It's not "zooming out the camera" when they draw the character getting smaller frame-by-frame. The timing and sense of weight in her movements are all really nice from what I've seen so far.

I admit it looks vibrant and powerful. Minor stuff aside, I think Eternal is getting the balance right - we have the beauty, the energy, the comedy and the darkness. Also is it me or the Jupiter attack seems to have more frames in the spinning sequence. I think it looked choppier in the music video.
