It's not really something fans "made up" as it's reported word on the street in Japan from the events that Brad Moonkitty has reported from. He's gone to a few events and watched every news release. But he even says until it airs, we won't know for sure.

I follow his site and he's got a lot of really good info and links. He's always been a very reliable source of Sailor Moon news. :D

If yes, are you glad about that or not? Personally I like the anime story and characters a lot more.
I do like the original quite a bit; it had it's own appeal, and some of the subplots weren't that bad. But the reason why I'm glad that Crystal will be sticking closer to the manga is because it will probably introduce it's own bits as well to make it just as memorable.

papillionrose summed it up.

I'm really interested in a more mature take on the series.

So which aspect of the manga story are you most excited about then?
If it is not renewed for a new season, I hope Naoko gives a Madoka-inspired ending to it.

I believe it is already confirmed to, but expect it regardless. What point would there be in doing another manga adaptation (which it is confirmed to be) as different as the original anime was?

There's too many for me to really narrow it down to just one. I will say though the most excited Crystal could get me is if it lasts long enough to adapt the Black Moon, Dream and Stars arcs. Those were my favorite arcs of the manga, and also the ones I didn't like the old anime's versions of that much.

As do I.

Let's all hope that Crystal does become popular enough to be renewed into five seasons. If it happens and the time comes, I think Dream is the one arc that's really due for a much more faithful adaptation. It'll definitely redeem over the filler feast that was SuperS.

Can't emphasize on that enough.

I'm really crossing my fingers that it is popular enough to cover all the arcs even if just so I could see Stars. As much as I enjoy the original anime's version of Stars I was so disappointed at how many characters they cut out from it and I'd love to see them brought to life. I've never read the manga and from what I've read some of those characters don't even seem incredibly important but it would still be nice to see them represented.
