OR, Naoko grew up wealthy and gave no thought to this stuff. Most likely since all the girls seem to be absurdly wealthy in a post-bubble Japan.
Hence coming to this question: are there any economically deprived people in the Sailor Moon universe at all? :oh my:

My friend is always like "But isn't Sailor Moon cleansing a person the same as brainwashing them?"

And I'm like "Uh....no, idiot; she is restoring the person they USED to be before they turned evil". Lol
But did they choose to be evil of their own free will? If you restore them against their will, isn't that brain washing? Forcing them to be something that they don't want to be anymore?

If so-and-so was under the influence of black magic, then it's different. Like doing something stupid while drunk. Maybe the magic lowered their inhibitions and brought impulses to the forefront. Yeah, the magic didn't make them do something that wasn't already in their hearts but it's not something they would ever do under normal circumstances. Cleansing is just helping him to sober up. You might take away their power but at least you restore their dignity.

If so-and-so had turned evil of his own free will... cleansing is abolishing his free will. If he is a threat, put chains on his body if need but not his mind. Maybe you could reprogram him, but it would be more merciful and show more respect to his inherent dignity to just send him to a firing squad. He might be a villain, but at least he can die saying, "I am a man!" If that case, the men and women of the Black Moon might well imagine themselves freedom fighters, choosing exile rather than such a fate.

Again, are there any first person/canon sources saying exactly how cleansing works? What SM did for the Four Sisters in season 2 seems to bear the first option out. I haven't seen it subtitled in a while but is what she did for them called cleansing on screen?

Maybe the originally good guys have 1st been "cleansed" by Chaos - hence turning bad - & then by NQS, or the other way round, & so on & so forth. lol

So Chaos is drug dealer then? So-and-so made the choice to take the "drug" but it was Chaos who offered them what they otherwise never could have had.

And the Devil said, "All this will I give you if you fall down and worship me."

I can believe it!

I'm gonna say "No, they didn't choose that."

We know from the manga that the four generals were Mamoru's...so they were corrupted by Metallia.
I do find it interesting that Nephrite was the only one whom the first anime staff chose to have a little goodness in him...whereas the other three were evil until death.

And the Black Moon family were brainwashed by Wiseman; it's his special skill; the same way he brainwashed Chibiusa.

Also the anime Black Moon Clan members we know best (other than Wiseman) weren't the same people who were banished to Nemesis. They were the descendants of those banished people, who have now gained supernatural powers (either from Nemesis itself or from Wiseman)

That drug would be "power," & power can also be addictive. :)

Very true!

If that's the case, is the Sailors are just getting them into the magic version of drug rehab or alcoholics anonymous, I can deal with that.:-P

A problem is whether they consented - some people do love to be addicted, be it to power, drug, sex, tobacco, alcohol, gambling, gaming, or w/e addictive. lol

When the sailor quartet arrived and talked about :chibichibi:.

sailor vestas said that the royal family can have only one daughter per generation.

who estipulated that rule and why?
in real life there have been laws like that?
what could happen if the royal family have another daughter ?, i mean you know..........................accidents can happen::tuxspeedmask:.

That's basically Kousagi from Parallel Sailor Moon. I think this was in the era of the Original Silver Millennium or earlier to prevent power struggles for the position of a Sailor Guardian. That, however, has no in-show evidence.

Yeah, i cant consider that short story as part of the canon.

there is a theory that say that usagi lost her senshi powers when she gave birth to chibi usa , so if a mother would lost her senshi powers by having the first kid , then that would mean that if a senshi give to birt a second kid , the new daughter wouldnt have any senshi powers , since the mother have had already passed all her senshi powers to the first kid , so no powers to the second one,

maybe thats why the royal family can only have one daughter per generation , because a second one would be powerless.

I certainly hope the Serenity line doesn't kill second born daughters just to keep stability...

If this is true, I prefer to believe that due to magic, a Silver Millenium Queen is only able to birth one daughter, one single miracle child

I've got one!!

What are the red gems that Usagi and Chibiusa wear in their hair buns MADE of? Ruby? Actually, what is ANY part of the senshi costumes made of? Like the fabric and stuff? It certainly doesn't tear easily.

Yeah, I could easily believe this. I think the senshi also mentioned that only one child can be born to a queen in this universe too.

I'm not sure if why we should even listen to what the Quartet have to say about the royal family. Everything about them is so confusing.

The Quartet goes back into hibernation to wait until Chibi-Moon comes of age/power. So they re-emerge in the future before she goes to the past again in the final arc, but it's clearly the first time Chibi has seen them in that capacity. So they go back with her and then spit out this toss-away line about one daughter so that Naoko can further insinuate that there's something odd about Chibi-Chibi (even though she's mere seconds away from revealing her real identity, whatever...)

But how would Vestas even know that? They only briefly lived in the present era as enemies, then for a few minutes as senshi before they went back to sleep. Then they re-emerge in the future and Vestas knows everything about the royal line? How? Did they maintain some level of awareness while waiting for Chibi? I'd expect this kind of knowledge from Pluto, but not the Quartet.

I don't think Moon explicitly passed her powers to her daughter. I think Chibi's power is her own, and Moon's just went dormant. But regardless, the one-daughter rule seems silly. QS only had one daughter and may have stopped there, but we'll never know because everything was wiped out before she even reached adulthood. As for Chibi... well, NQS doesn't exactly show a whole lot of attention and doting on her in the flashbacks, so maybe she wasn't too thrilled about producing more than one kid after having her. :P

The other problem with this throwaway line is how many Moon Queens have we even had? Queen Serenity and Neo Queen Serenity...wasn't Queen Serenity supposed to be the first?
How would they know any of this anyway? Even the inners, outers, Chibiusa, the cats and Sailor Moon herself don't have any of this knowledge these four weirdoes have.

Haruka and Michiru being obscenely wealthy on the manga is even more bemusing than Makoto living alone, at least for me.
I'd imagine that their luxurious lives were supported by Setsuna - anyone capable of time traveling can get rich easily.
