Well this post is basically to track any info related to the movies release.

This time we haven’t had any leaks like the casting call for the Portuguese dub or pictures of the voice actors dubbing or the “Astro Girl” register.

However if we follow Eternal’s tracks movies we’re dubbed in December (as per the Mexican cast’s declarations) and they premiered in June.

I think movies will be released on Netflix as we could hear the studio started working on them in 2020, so probably Netflix bought a deal for 4 movies to stream.

But does anyone have more information? Posts or links that could indicate what will happen with Cosmos?

Someone confirmed to me here that an animator leaked the information that Netflix has the rights.

When Eternal got released (in the winter of 2021 and when covid was a major risk), I suppose that it made sense to release the film on Netflix just some months after the film‘s theatrical release.

The situation with Cosmos is different… it’s possible that it may take a while for Cosmos to land on Netflix.

Yeah, Deng was one of the key animation directors of Cosmos Part 1 that did accidently leaked it and the 17th was the last day of Cosmos Part 1 to play in some cinemas in Japan. So I think Cosmos Part 2 last day of screening will be early August. Along with the strike going on, I think it won't affect it and Cosmos Part 1 and 2 will be released on Netflix in November 2023 or January 2024. I think why January 2024 is cause of the 6 months Eternal took for it to be dubbed.

With the recent success of anime projections in my country (Mexico) I don’t doubt it. For the premiere of Demon Slayer’s film the author and main character’s voice actor were invited.

I doubt TOEI will leave that cash behind, but if the deal was for four movies… who knows?

Yep I personally think Sailor Moon Cosmos will be in for a international release by Netflix since the films are still in Japan and they aren't finished translating the films from Japanese to English or Spanish and etc. So I believe both films will release in November or December of this year.

Great, let the actual fans all around the world wait for ages to see the films, but the ungrateful entitled jerks who do nothing but harp on everything get it on the big screen just because they live in a rich country and value nothing...
I don‘t understand your post.

People who live in countries with emerging economies, e.g. Mexico and Brazil, are extremely passionate about Sailor Moon and I think they certainly would love watching Cosmos on the big screen.

I believe Cosmos would sell more tickets in Mexico and Brazil than in Japan or even the United States.

Should the United States have a theatrical release of Cosmos, I believe it would be a limited theatrical release. Unless I am wrong, Cosmos isn’t the type of film made to compete with Hollywood‘s blockbusters. In Brazil and Mexico, though, Cosmos certainly can compete with Hollywood Blockbusters. When I was a kid and lived in Brazil, I remember that some of the Saint Seiya films (the ones made in the 80s) all got theatrical releases.

A cinema release to make most of these jerks on here gloat and complain more will further delay a release for the rest of us - my point. :) 90 % of people on here harp how unsuccessful Cosmos is how it is not a film quality etc. Why should they see it on big screen when they believe it doesn't live up to it? It is cool for Mexico and Brazil, but what about smaller countries that absolutely cannot afford a release due to small numbers, you know Sailor Moon is quite popular in such countries like Poland. A theatrical release for 5 big sharks will screw it for the rest of us.

I would like to see Sailor Moon Cosmos in Turkey cinemas and I bet Turkey would've sell lots of tickets. In 2000s all 90s episodes were streaming on our TV and SM was so popular. But big screen sounds impossible to me, we are collapsing economy lol

My point - Sailor Moon has been a big name and has fans all across the world, even countries that simply cannot hope for a cinema release because it simply doesn't happen for anime films.

I understand you now and appreciate your explanation.

Yes, a theatrical release of Cosmos will ultimately delay my own viewing experience and the viewing experience of others.

I rely solely on Netflix. I don’t like going to movie theaters and prefer streaming and/or buying the DVD, if it’s a title I like.

Realistically, if Naoko & TOEI wish to maximize their profits, a theatrical release of Cosmos—especially in certain countries—makes perfect sense.

Advantage: Sailor Moon will be more exposed as a franchise and the profit made may hopefully compel Naoko & Co. to revive the franchise again in some way or form.

Disadvantage: We will have to wait more for the release of Cosmos on Netflix (myself included).

I understand being upset over this, but I think we need to remember two things: first, from what I've seen, the "entitled jerks" are mostly confined to this forum. In real life most fans are looking forward to Cosmos and enjoyed Eternal, even Crystal has improved in reception because casual fans watched the fixed version. Second, other recent Toei theatrical releases such as Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero and One Piece Film: Red were shown across multiple countries all over the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Not every single country was included, but it's not like they only release them in wealthy nations, during the last couple years Toei has tried to increase its engagement with developing oversea regions.

90 % of people on here harp how unsuccessful Cosmos is how it is not a film quality etc. Why should they see it on big screen when they believe it doesn't live up to it? I would say that if those people go to see Cosmos on a big screen, they would once again prove just how foolish they are as they would be giving money to the woman and series they hate so much just so they can continue to write their delusional complaints in this tiny corner of the internet. Don't forget that the majority here is but a microscopic minority of the actual audience; most audiences are likely to enjoy the films and it'd be nice for them to experience it all in theaters.

Also, according to IMDB, Poland did get theatrical releases for the One Piece and Dragon Ball films in 2022, so it's very possible for Cosmos to get a theatrical release there as well.

I would like to see Sailor Moon Cosmos in Turkey cinemas and I bet Turkey would've sell lots of tickets. In 2000s all 90s episodes were streaming on our TV and SM was so popular. But big screen sounds impossible to me, we are collapsing economy lol
According to IMDB Turkey got theatrical releases for One Piece and Dragon Ball in 2022 as well, so with that information it doesn't seem that impossible...

I don't remember them showing pivotal moments like Nehellenia's past encounter with Queen Serenity
I get your point, however it's a bit different for Eternal because those films didn't deviate from the manga at all, so there wasn't really anything to spoil. But you are right in general because Cosmos did add a couple new things and revealed just about all of them in its promotion campaign. I still think that most casual fans won't mind this as they probably haven't been following all the trailers and teasers.
