Looks like the color space issue that @lansing mentioned was present in SuperS after all and has been fixed for the new set.

EDIT:

Old release went through a colour space conversion to bt.601 in error. This was a common mistake for most Viz BDs from their more competent authoring house prior to Jojo GW Part 2. The new release is correctly decoded and encoded as bt.709, and you can confirm that yourself by putting it through a 601 > 709 conversion (that image is more or less identical).

Viz just announced that the Sailor Stars complete season Blu-ray set will be released on May 28th, 2024. I hope we get a set for the movies too. And maybe even something for Cosmos.

@NJ_ , do you know what the overall consensus was on the SuperS re-release? Are folks upgrading if they already have the previous blu ray?

Seems to me like the transfers were more or less the same. I assume Stars will be similar since, like SuperS, the first blu ray release also used the Japanese masters with little tinkering.

Hello all does anyone elses music audio sound weird on the R bluray rerelase. Specifically when the intro and the ending credits play on the english dub settings?

EDIT:

Probably a Triple Feature with all 3 films in 1 disc with nothing else.

Looks like I was proven right judging by Crunchyroll's store listing claiming 1 disc so it's going to be missing stuff just like with Naruto, Bleach & InuYasha's movies.

EDIT 2:

The 240 minute runtime implies that the specials might be included which is good because they did the same thing with Naruto's one special for it's Triple Feature disc but then that would put the disc at around 210 minutes right?

I hope not. I just recently found the R1 Pioneer versions cause they're the only ones I can find at 4:3 aspect ratio. The quality is only 480p though, so a 1080p release would be amazing.

It's probably a typo, like a copy paste from the TV sets.

Their Naruto Blu-rays had a similar typo except they claimed 16:9 on those sets when the show is 4:3 up until midway through Shippuden.
