Some people speculate, but no.because in dream she was saying "Dont be mad mom me and Marou had a pure relationship.

• I actually kind of like Diana's design in this. [But not Luna and Artemis's]
• King Endymion - "Pluto has lived longer than anyone else and has experienced EVERY era."

• Pluto gave SM the most unenthusiastic handshake I've ever seen.
• The way the sailors and Endymion's bodies are lying reminds me of how when I lie like that my hands make some uncomfortable pressure point when I wake up.
• I don't know If I like these stock attacks.
• Wiseman's voice keeps catching me off guard. [in a semi-good way though]

Any thoughts on the animation quality? If I remember right, this is one of the standouts of Crystal.

Pluto and Chibi-Usa's relationship here struck me as more natural and fleshed out than the 90s show, weirdly.

I'm glad YuYu is enjoying Crystal. I disliked it when I first watched it back when it was released, but rewatching it with someone who had never hadn't ever watched Sailor Moon made me appreciate its good points and I've grown to enjoy it a lot. I think as it stands, Season 2 is my favorite so I'm glad others appreciate it, too. It's a very fun thread to read through.

I've also enjoyed you going over what has been removed. I just want to add something that might explain why Crystal removed the violence.

There was an interview with Takeuchi for Da Vinci Magazine on February 2021 where she was asked a fluff question about which parts of Sailor Moon were particularly memorable to her. Takeuchi's answer was far from fluffy, however, she took the opportunity to go on a tangent about the darker scenes in her story. Her answer was this:

"Sailor Saturn is the Guardian of Destruction, and so I drew her scenes to be as strong as destruction itself. But after the series, there was a time during which I couldn't face my work for a while, because I was facing reality: natural disasters, earthquakes, terrorist attacks in Japan and abroad, all this in the news all day long. I had to face reality and reflect on the fact that I had drawn these things too lightly."

The magazine added pictures of Sailor Saturn destroying the city next to her answer.

Now, she's not mentioning any specific thing she drew besides Saturn destroying Tokyo, but I think her answer is still telling as to why she'd want to tone down the gorier panels she drew in other arcs. That's why I wasn't surprised when Eternal toned down some gore, and I'm expecting Cosmos to do so as well.

There's some nice looking parts here. Some even animated.

I don't remember being once bothered by how anything looked in this specific episode. [though the cleavage part was kind of... odd]

I still don’t get why Luna had red eyes for the first 3 seasons and then for the Eternal movies they made her eyes blue.

Oh yes, I remember that too. The 1995 Tokyo subway sarin attack really changed Japanese culture and how people conceived of violence and terrorism, it became all too real and that made authors tone down the early 90s edginess present in both Sailor Moon and X/1999.

There seemed to be a lot of care put into animating Neo Queen Serenity whenever she appeared in Season 2, it made her appearances feel a bit more special, I liked that.

I disliked the first season (because I'm bored to death by the Dark Kingdom Arc, we have seen this way too much), but the Black Moon Arc was better and seemed more fresh. The story is more interesting and is more coherent than R (BM clan backstory and motivations, Pluto and Chibiusa's relationship). Graphically it was a bit better than the first arc too and I kinda like some shots (from Usagi on Nemesis and the later episode with Pluto but no spoiler).

I feel like the manga use of the plot points were better than r.The use of the future, Pluto, Black lady and Chibiusa.Felt more developed and execute better .

The points I give to r was how they develop some villains.(Akayashi sisters redemption)Either than that future plot always to me was weak in r.

Did you notice that Pluto was about to kill Sailor Moon knowing beforehand she's the future queen and the mother of her best friend Small Lady?

I don't understand why they didn't correct that awful mistake of the manga....

There's another serious mistake in Act 22 & 23.

Maybe Pluto wanted to kill past NSQ so she could get hew own taste of King Endy's D. ?

Well I think that at least Pluto is more developed in the BM arc than she is in R and I like (somewhat) how her arc closes. Indeed you have to suspend your disbelief about all temporal consequences of what happens in this arc (and the next but that's another story) and Takeuchi doesn't know how to hold such complex storyline impacts but at least it's a bit more satisfying than the R ending.

I agree, but then again it's because I think those acts are very good in the manga as well. Black Moon and Stars are my favorite arcs and I think it's because they both have a sense of finality to them. Crystal flunked a lot of the Dark Kingdom ending but it did most of Black Moon right.

I think this is a constant between versions, the 90s anime excels in having character development but it lacks in plot and connecting lore, the manga is the opposite of that, it focuses on plot and lore and characters take a backseat. I like the manga's style better and I think we're lucky we got two choices on how to approach the story.

I think maybe they expect Pluto to have seen or met Neo Queen Serenity. We know she has met Queen Serenity at the very least. Since they're all so similar in appearance, she could have guessed that Sailor Moon was related to one of the Queens, but didn't.
