Mine:
  • Rei and Mamoru was a way better ship and made more sense than Usagi and Mamoru. Naoko didn’t hate the idea and even made Asanuma or some character comment on how Rei would be Mamoru’s type.
  • Despite my first point, still think 90’s UsaMamo > Crystal UsaMamo
  • Anime Rei >>> Crystal/manga . Fiery personality matches her more. She doesn’t need to be man-hater to be a great character.
  • Anime Mamoru >>> Crystal/manga Mamoru. Sorry but Prince Charming boy doesn’t do it for me. Good for you if it does, but flawed characters who make mistakes be more relatable to reality. More connections can be made than just being the perfect boyfriend.
  • People need to stop thinking Usagi can do no wrong and be quick to blame everyone else for their faults while ignoring hers. For example: She constantly fails to communicate to Mamoru what she wants and expects him to guess it plus gets mad if he doesn’t (slap for “forgetting” her birthday) people celebrate it as payback for Mamoru not communicating about the dreams and visions that told Mamoru to break up with her that he’s still to this day scorned for. The irony. Least Mamoru did it for a good reason.

  • Some of the “fillers” in the anime are actually canon to the story whether it was in the manga or not. Not liking it doesn’t automatically make it filler while the ones you do like are acceptable.

    Your turn!

90's Anime Mamoru>>> Manga Mamoru. Sorry but manga Mamoru has no real personality beyond being Usagi's forever loving prince charming. Also he is way hotter in the 90's anime lol.
Super S is not the worst season of the 90's anime. Stars is.
Naoko's style in Manga Stars is peak Sailor Moon from an aesthetic point of view and Cosmos is the only adapation that(only in certan frames though) was able to transalate it in animation.
Sailor Star Song>>> Moonligh Denestu

I agree that while I found most of Stars boring, I do like the Stars opening. I like both Sailor Star song and Moonlight Densetsu equally.

1,000 % agree here.

Honestly, I'd rather take a flaw character like Mamoru/Darien in the anime rather than him just being a Gary Stu as at least in the anime, he does have some personality and isn't a flat character (even if his method in R deserved a slap in the S birthday episode). But anyway, I got some of my own forbiddens myself. However, it'll be a while before I gather them up and remember.

Probably the Demande/Michiru romance fan idea, and I do think they have something in common.

It was ok when I release my work in Chinese community, but not sure why US community didn't like it.

Anime Rei >>> Crystal/manga .
I don't think it's forbidden, Anime Rei received much more development and Manga Rei didn't even have much plot, her character was only settled in that short story along with the Dream arc.

I think different anime seasons handled Mamoru differently. His best season was Classic+ R movie.

He was better as a character in the anime, just that his love romance with Usagi wasn't as well focused as the manga.

It is according to some stans. They claim that they hated that Rei was made more “boy-crazy” and how she should have kept her man-hating trait.

The story was better when it wasn’t just focused solely on the UsaMamo romance aspect (season 1drama excluded) plus had a variety of focus on other elements of the story to make it interesting.

I prefer Eternal over Super S
I prefer Zoicite and Fisheye as females.
I think Seiya is a better fit for Usagi instead of Mamoru (after the first 2 seasons in the 90s anime).

I've seen that as well, but Anime Rei also got many supporters. She was even 2nd female lead in season 1 and no doubt Usagi's best friend.

True, I do agree that Mamoru got a bit tossed aside in later seasons, but he was amazing in season 1 and R movie. Not just the "ideal dude to love" but also a bit of his own life.

I liked the masahiro ando style , when i watched the 90 anime i was like 12 years old , i dont think that i putted to much atention to the artstyle , but i rememberd that i didnt had any visual problem with the ando episodes .

I liked to see uranus and neptune being baddies with sailor moon , the episode where they fight against sailor moon is one of my favorites.

I think that Ikuhara made sailor moon legendary in many aspects.

There still be many that claim that they didn’t like the change because they didn’t like Rei “stealing Usagi’s man” , rubbing dating Mamoru in her face, plus her being a totally jealous mean bad friend to Usagi. These are from people from Reddit, so who knows.

Is that really an unpopular opinion? Personally, I prefer SuperS but I thought most people preferred Eternal.

Yeah but I never think Usagi even bother that, she and Rei share such a close bond. And Usagi didn't even build relationship with Mamoru when Rei hook out with him.

In Another Story it showed that she still had some feeling for Mamoru but was still willing to stand up for Usagi.

  • I see the manga and Crystermos as the authoritative source of the story.
  • I love Crystermos.
  • I have a profound admiration for Naoko Takeuchi.
  • I absolutely love the 90’s anime, but I dislike some of the monsters, especially when they look weird or ridiculous. I cannot stand Osouji.
  • I never watched all episodes of SuperS or the SuperS film.
  • I think Ikuhara’s “symbolism” is at times exaggerated, excessive and completely over-the-top, e.g. Sailor Moon crucified as the flowers absorb her energy in the R movie.
  • I love and adore the S film and own it on Blu-Ray.
  • I respect PGSM fans and I am happy that they have PGSM, but PGSM is not for me.
  • I dislike the break-up arc in R.

There… feel free to revoke my Sailor Moon fan card.

Nooooo Osouji is my favorite one ! it's totally over the top but I love this one !

To bo honest, I love Ikuhara be he is probably a bit overrated in the fandom, including by me. I think Junichi Sato's work isn't liked enough. He did some of the most legendary episodes and stayed till the very end. He was able to make comedic episodes as much as sad one, and they all have such a special touch. In Stars, he did the last Neherenia, the UsaSeiya date, and the death of UraNep, which are like the 3 best ones of this season to me.

- Sailormoon manga is the first and original work with Codename wa Sailor V, and it's my favorite manga of all time. it is not without flaws, but the story and the characters involved me so much that they were unforgettable.

- I think Naoko is a good Mangaka and a shy and reserved person who hates injustice and manages to be self-deprecating to somatize even bad experiences. I like and respect her.

- For me Manga > 90s anime > crystal eternal cosmos, for a simple reason: I think that Toei sabotaged the remake so as not to make its flagship series for girls (pretty cure) look bad, giving the project little budget and little care. It's impossible that they don't know how to grasp the meaning of certain scenes, much less know how to transpose it into animation, the 90s anime is proof of this.

- I like the 90s anime, it's the means through which I discovered the series, however for me it has many flaws that I can't overlook (I couldn't do it when I was a child, let alone once I grew up): exaggerated and exasperated comedy, too many useless and often redundant fillers, the unraveling of the monsters of the week in a 40 episode series makes everything a bit flat and predictable, especially when you give the final blow almost exclusively to Sailormoon. At a certain point they could have saved themselves the complete transformations by making it clear to the public that they transform in an instant. I didn't like certain changes in the essence and personality of the characters, even at a plot level they messed up... Real-time attacks were needed to avoid what we've already seen and above all the attacks deserved more destructive power. Sometimes the enemies are indecent to look at, for example I remember that Kaolinite's necklines clashed with her dialogues, "No, Professor Tomoe, don't scold your daughter, she just thinks I want to take her mother's place"... From the front we can almost see your panties from the neckline and you expect us to believe you? I also found the skit homage to shin chan really tasteless.

- I don't like the fact that some 90's anime fans often criticize those who like the manga, and also criticizing the author. But for them, 90s anime is flawless. And beware of criticizing it!

- even though the one used for the 90s anime is a nice set of character designs and drawed with care I find it rather generic, which differs little from the 80s/early 90s standard. I don't like Masahiro Ando's style.

- I can hardly listen to Moonlight densetsu anymore, it was used too much as a song, I still listen only Nana Kitade's version to every now and then.

- I find that civilian outfits in 90s anime and related merchandising are often in poor taste.

- I find that Mamoru in the 90s anime is a character of little depth, I have never found him attractive enough to justify all this female attention on him, furthermore as tuxedo kamen he partly takes away the girls "girl power" by intervening to help them every time, he partly ends up getting himself into trouble too...

I prefer the Starlights being men who transform into magical girls. Sailor Moon was an anime that revolutionised the subgenre but also continued to do it over its seasons. Even Tomoya omitted the panel where Nyanko implies the Starlights are women disguised as men in Cosmos.

Do the Starlights have to be women because they are Senshis and have Sailor Crystals, BUT Mamoru, a man, CAN have a Sailor Crystal because is the favourite character and the ideal man of the author? :rolleye: Okay...................

  • Anime Mamoru >>> Crystal/manga Mamoru. Sorry but Prince Charming boy doesn’t do it for me. Good for you if it does, but flawed characters who make mistakes be more relatable to reality. More connections can be made than just being the perfect boyfriend.
This is a western thing. Anime!Mamoru is a real representation of a japanese boyfriend. Japanese men are dumb, boring, silly, dimwit, stupid, sometimes graceless in a relationship. Manga!Mamoru is the typical prince from a european fairy tale. That's not bad provided that there's a development that, by the way, the manga never had. The romance in the manga/Crystal is terrible, simply because there's no romance beyond the idealistic and childish love for children stories, there's no growth. Everything is resolved by meaningless ' aishiteru '.
