Eeehhh!??? Sakai directed Dance Dance Danseur!? I watched a few sequences on Youtube and they're so good. :orangeghost::orangeghost:
yep, after leaving Toei, he joined Mappa and directed Zombie Land Saga also
It seems his work for One Piece was good too (as director episode), just Crystal had a really awful production as we still dont know what happened behind the scenes

also he was the episode director for act 1, and thats one of the best on season 1

This makes the Crystal project even weirder, considering even the involvement of very talented people on it didn't save the beginning from being pretty... rough.
They probably thought they could sell that awful shittenou ::love:: senshi side arc thinking the manga purists would love it to death no matter how badly it's executed. :quagmire:

If they're gonna reboot Crystal again I hope they do add a proper filler flashback for it.

In the end Crystal was still a success from a business/marketing perspective.

my expectations:

- it's an adaptation of the stars arc
- crystal is over after too freaking long

hoping for no more anything other than rereleases from here out on tbh. i enjoy crystal but i'm just so over it, i was 21 when season 1 episode 1 came out. i'm almost 30. enough.

While obviously Toei doesn't take the project as their high priority one in terms of time & efforts, those people may do so too.

I think the Naoko Takeuchi Collection could have been made a three-in-one omnibus, if I have any expectations, they should make a spin-off of Sailor Moon on a different planet and a new team.

Lots of speculation involving the chief supervisor , Naoko I assume; and there must be some miscommunication somewhere. A recent interview someone posted had the original 90's director mention Naoko doesn't even communicate with them and things are handled via a middleman.

Sakai must have had a horrible experience because for him to leave in an angry bit, where he has had decent work both before and after, but mysteriously not on the Crystal project?

The more I see these things the more skeptical I get that everything is being communicated smoothly.

No, I don't want it to sound like I am bashing Naoko but I've seen lots of comments on this forum about her being difficult to work with in a variety of settings.

I don't know if it is just rumor talk but if not, it makes perfect sense folks would not want to work on the project....now or in the future.

Then again...Toei could actually just be the Dark Agency in disguise.
Also, most of the time Im just finding something to talk about as I wait for something new Sailor Moon.

The longer such waiting time, the more likely that she (or her car) becomes the subject of discussions by fans here & elsewhere, instead of Sailor Moon stuff. XD
