I honestly think it would be a terrible idea for the fans to not continue in my opinion. Since the Cosmos movies have been garnering a lot of attraction and some of the best part of this poorly executed reboot. I wish they would continue with a sequel to the series. I feel there's more thing that can be answered from this series and much higher potential as well.

I would want a continuation honestly, many have been throwing out there a Chibi Moon/Asteroid Senshi series. For ones whom aren't Chibi Moon fans (such as myself) may not want that though. The Asteroid Senshi are interesting though overall.

Or would Naoko Takeuchi according to a recent article consider creating a new magical girl/senshi series? Even though that seems highly unlikely since she seems to have no interest in being a mangaka ever again. Or by the looks of it honestly.

Or another reboot with a different re-telling this time of story this time around? The manga definitely had its shortcomings, which I felt the 90s anime had definitely improved on with the exception of SuperS, which that could have been far superior. Sailor Stars should have had the Senshi eternal forms for the rest.

So... I ask you guys, what do you think is the future for Sailor Moon? :usagi:

The Eternal forms are supposed to be upgrades in Stars that were planned just prior to the final battle, but that never happened because it is linked with the manga Cosmos and Usagi backstory which the anime scrapped, they could have given the Outer Senshi their Super henshin instead.

From what I see, Takeuchi is likely planning for a Chibiusa/Hotaru/Asteroid Senshi sequel after Stars before she decided to change the backstory of Galaxia and kill off the Starlights.

Knowing that Kotono will never overtake Usagi again. So we can give up on a sequel to the 90 anime, or anything related to that.

A sequel to Sailor Moon Cosmos could be possible with the character Sailor Cosmos. I don't see a sequel with Usagi / Sailor Moon if Kotono doesn't come back.

There is so much material to work on a sequel to SMC, if they gave so much information about Sailor Cosmos, it's nice, it says who she is (Usagi of the present time and not a reincarnation). They show a lot more, so why not exploit that, show it concretely by telling the story.

I think Usagi as Cosmos after giving birth to Chibiusa would be voiced by Keiko, not Kotono seeing that Usagi does not likely have the same Sailor Crystal after returning from the Cauldron

Was this actually confirmed or more so pure speculation? I would really love more Sailor Saturn on display, since we don't get to see enough of her.

As for a few of the posters, even if Kotono doesn't reprise her role. That doesn't erase the fact a sequel could happen with a younger voice actress, whom could be just as talented I feel.

I said that is from what I see or just my theory.
She said actually mentioned she wanted a story of Sailor Moon with Chibiusa and Hotaru as leads in the artbook but I think the production issues and plot changes of Stars manga and anime are what caused its cancellation.

I have always threw out suggestions on the forums of a Chibi Moon sequel with the asteroid Senshi going so far as commenting such on Toei's Cosmos Twitter post in a silly way but it's really just a light hearted thing I do mostly for fun and it's not something I am praying to the altar for everyday.

However, a sequel would mean they would need to do some work on Chibi-Moon and the Asteroid Senshi, mainly the latter....but it also doesn't have to be a series, it can be a movie. I think they are fresh enough for younger girls to enjoy.

I would suspect a Chibi Moon inspired series would have a little more action and I kinda trust the new director to make it work since it would be original. I'd watch it just to see what it would be like....good or bad....though I don't think it would be THAT terrible as some other things.

With a Japanese cast. :O

Personally I’d love to see the side stories and Codename Sailor V get adapted. Especially Sailor V.
As much as I love Sailor V, I think that only the last chapter has some substance.

Unless we want a parody of Bishoujo Kamen Poitrine.

Yoshi has suggested this just lately: :googly:

Chances are slim though but not in the realm of impossibility. ^_^'

Who knows? May be GMA7 will make a live action telenovela adaptation. Local executives do know :usagi:'s market potential.

call me a pessimist but i don't think a new animated show will happen again, at least while naoko holds the rights in a death grip. not a sequel, not a reboot, nothing. another live-action one might happen if netflix or somebody writes a proposal according to naoko's exacting specifications (read: you cannot change the story at all, no matter how dumb it gets :P), but i think it'll be a merch-only property for a long time

what i'd actually like to see is a totally different take on sailor moon that appeals to a wider audience. i love 90s nostalgia but almost everything about BSSM is in dire need of an update. i think this could absolutely be done without sacrificing its core essence, though it might take some genre-bending to get there

but naoko would have to allow it and there would have to be a demand for it. from my completely unscientific observations of the anime fandom at large, i have real doubts about BSSM's continued existence as a foundation for narratives. it'll always provide well-known and marketable visual icons in the form of the senshi, and that alone drives a lot of merch sales

Based on Kotono’s comments of retiring as Usagi, and how Studio Deen has their hands full with Otona Precure, I don’t see a traditional sequel anytime soon. If there’s a new animated film, I think it would be something a bit different. Considering some of Toei’s recent magical girl sequels like Looking for Magical Doremi, and Otona Precure, I wouldn’t be shocked if they made a film revolving around a group of fictional aspiring voice actresses with the Sailor Guardians making a cameo at the end. Or something a long those lines. Basically something non-canon that generates some buzz towards the Sailor Moon name.

I also think a new live action film or series is more likely at this point.

A new japanese live action, this time adapting all the arcs. The Prism on ice show. New musicals, like remakes of Kaguya island, the Dracul arc, a Sailor Moon R the Movie musical would be brilliant too... ::love::::love::::love::::love::::love::::love::::love::

No animation, please. If there'd been some plans, not Toei and with Junichi Sato before his retirement. :wry:

I think :usagi: franchise would likely go to Studio Deen and partially J.C. Staff. At least TOEI has learned their disastrous mismanagement and lack of manpower from the 1st Season of Crystal.
