This I never heard of, interesting bit of relatively unknown trivia. Tell me, were Toei/Bandai aware of this random birthday and did they approve? As in, were these dolls licensed out to one of their distributors? If so, could this technically be counted as canon?

The dolls were made by Bandai's North American branch. I'd say it counts as canon unless and until Naoko disputes it (which seems unlikely)

Yep, definitely a typo, I meant the former rather than the latter - though the latter would be quite the rarepair crackship indeed lol.

Speaking of, this actually reminds me of the time I stumbled upon a Rubeus/Haruka fanart, now talk about the ultimate of ultimate crackships! lol

(Shipping any confirmed lesbians or gay men with cis men or cis women respectively is a no-no for me, as it reeks too much of conversionary therapy, I know technically Haruka has never been explicitly stated to be a lesbian and she could just as well be bi or pan, but I think she’s extremely heavily coded in a way that’s meant to be read as full monosexual, Kinsey level 6 lesbian - especially in the 90’s anime where Michiru outright says that Haruka “doesn’t get along with men.”)

I ship that! I still think Haruna was a bit younger probably mid to late 20s, but still they would make a very nice couple. And Hotaru and Hanura would have such a cute relationship. One thing I really love about the 90s was the rare cases they showed the wonderful loving mother-daughter relationship between Ikuko and Usagi. The show needed more of that.
