If we define a "complete" version of Sailor Moon as one that covers all five story arcs, then the following adaptations can be considered "incomplete":

  • The Optimum English dub (Missing Sailor Stars)
  • The live action series/PGSM (Only covered the Dark Kingdom arc)
  • The Tokyopop novelizations (Didn't even finish covering season 1)
  • The Scholastic novelizations (Only covered the Doom Tree arc)
  • The Kodansha manga novelizations (Only covered the Dark Kingdom arc)
  • The Nelke musicals novelizations (Only La Reconquista/the Dark Kingdom arc was novelized)
  • The all-color manga release (So far, only the DK arc has been released with no further updates in a year and a half)

So, of the above, which would you most like to see be completed?

Oof. Ideally I'd say PGSM and the original English dub would be tied for me. But if I had to pick just one, PGSM. I remember being really psyched at the idea of the series eventually getting to the outers and the future, but it obviously never went that route.

Hmm, there's so much of this I haven't properly completed myself yet that I don't feel I can properly judge it all- but I will say, I'd consider PGSM the obvious choice, since you get a lot more potential story out of that if they did the other seasons with energy akin to the first. I've been watching PGSM for the first time these past couple months, I'm only about 3/5 of the way through but I absolutely love it to bits.

I could make a case, though, that I'd also really like to have seen a '90s anime film for Sailor Stars, Codename Sailor V, and perhaps a season 1 movie that would basically be a more succinct (but fully animated) version of the PC Engine Game, as far as things that feel like there might be some gaps. I would also love to see the Legend of Kaguya Island and the Dracul myus adapted into other versions of the franchise, since those stories were never told in other versions either.

I have been hearing some good things about the DiC-era novelizations of the first half of the Dark Kingdom arc, so it might be neat if those had continued for the rest of the series, too? But I still need to read them myself.

I think we will see a version of the manga without the Insect arm Haruka if the all-color manga is complete.

  • The Kodansha manga novelizations (Only covered the Dark Kingdom arc)
Perhaps the manga novelization can be completed.

PGSM as much as I'd love more of it, a continuation would be impossible. The cast is to old to play 15 year-old girls and by introducing Luna as a human child kind off eliminates Chibi Usa and a whole lot of other stuff.

I'm still waiting for the Roman Album & film books for Stars, if not even the Stars movie (not to be confused w/ the Crysternal movies) too. ^_^'
Oh yes ! This very much ! I still miss Stars and SuperS anime albums, bad they stopped doing this after SuperS movie.

I really wish we could get a settei book too, like they do with Precure each year.
… and an official illustrations book with LD covers and promo illusts done for the original series but that’s maybe too much to ask ^^

The Sailor Moon adaptations that I would love to see completed are PGSM, the all-color manga, and the Sailor Moon Optimum dub.

I know it wouldn't happen realistically, but, imagine some kind of 15-years-later sequel set in Crystal Tokyo, everyone's adults, even Luna has grown up, and they do introduce Chibi-Usa for this weird new spin of grownup Sailor Moon and friends vs the Black Moon Clan (minus most of the time travel). I'd certainly be intrigued! (I mean, it'll never happen, but I can dream, right? They've brought back old Sentai actors for new specials sometimes- Yuuta Mochizuka once reprised his role as the Red Ranger a good 10-15 years after Zyuuranger, if I remember right.)

I think Minako might be recast though. I don't know. It would feel like a fan fic. I'd rather have a brand new live action done in Japan with new cast. It is extremely unrealistic either way as everybody involved kind of pretend it never happened... Anyway PGSM ended on such a high note, they raise the steaks so high I doubt they can top it off anyway, when it comes to the old show.
