Some voice were okay in the first season, and Usagi’s first VA was nice though.
The second VA was horrendous lol and I don’t mention the last one in the Kaze version… LOL (I barely watch 3 min of it)

After the first season, the French dub is an horror that should stay where it belongs: the trash. Mamoru’s voice is the worst and the actor absolutely doesn’t care about what he is doing (and he was the director I think ?), as well is his wife who does Jupiter/Pluto/Neptune/Saturn. She even made weird comments about the show in an interview (something like « I’m not here to judge the quality of the series but... »). The absolutely worst was Helios voice, it was just an insult to all viewers, it looked like a parody.
Some voice were okay in the first season, and Usagi’s first VA was nice though.
Anyway the french version was a disgrace and I don’t see who would want to watch this again
Yet the French dubbing is still a hit in the opinion of in France.
So much so that people prefer this one to sailor moon crystal or kaze cast.

When you give an excerpt from an interview give the full answer. She says the cast was small because the dubbing company refused to pay other comedians and the team was unaware during the season 1 that there would be other female characters (season 2 to 4).

That’s not the point: what I’m saying is that she semi-criticized a show she was part of and that is absolutely unprofessional. And that small team isn’t an excuse for bad quality of voice acting or taking stupid voices like Mamoru’s voice did for Helios.

And I absolutely don’t care about all the French versions, Kaze or AB tbh... I heard some parts of Kaze and it wasn’t very good but at least they respected the material.
By the way is Usagi’s voice in eternal the same as in Kaze’s dub ? The voice sounds familiar even if the part we hear in French is very short.

Give the interview where she criticizes, I read all her interviews and believe me she never has what you say ... And already she rarely gives interviews, she does not like to show herself or in the conventions or elsewhere. So, either urban legends that people love to tell to demolish the French version.

For Eternal, it is the voice of Sailor Moon Crystal and still happy that no one from Kazé is in the dubbing of Sailor Moon Eternal.

It was an interview in Animeland, and she said something like « I’m not here to criticize children’s taste but... », implying she had a bad opinion on the series. I don’t see a lot of fans of AB French version, there is nothing to demolish because it’s in itself a disaster and a typical example of bad translation and adaptation that most of Japanese anime got in the 90’s.

They didn’t use the same voices for Stars and Crystal ? That’s weird, I wonder why ?

Good thing I have all the Animeland magazines, I found the interview. At no time does she speak ill of Sailor Moon. She just says that Japanese animes is not her universe. Despite, she still likes to double in Japanese animes because it plunges her into another universe. And to see what young people like today.

Then she said that it's not for her to judge people's taste. Each his own. But at no time did she say anything bad. Or denigrated anything. She has the right to have her opinion which does not prevent her from being professional.

In the interview she never spoke of Sailor Moon ...

And for your information, I have the interview with Virginie Ogouz, it is she who says: that she does not watch on TV because she is too afraid to see the result. Besides, she's the one who talks about the dubbing conditions: cast reduced because of the company, and also by the fact that they knew not that there would be as many women to dub.

And in the context that she is afraid, it is linked to the lack of means not to the lack of talent, or I don't care.

In fact, in the same interview, she says: that she has a lot of affection for Molly (Friend). I'm not telling you anything since you know these interviews.

If you want I can take a photo of the two passages of the interview with the French text, you who can speak French, that shouldn't be a problem for you ...

----

Marie Nonnenmacher made it clear that she hated the anime Sailor Moon, and yet she doubled in Sailor Jupiter in season 5 movies 2 & 3.

The casting of Kazé has not returned because you already have a casting for the two seasons of SMC. It is normal to recall this casting, it is respect and knowing that that of Kazé is hated by many it is better to forget it.

Saying « I’m not here to judge people’s taste » is implying that she has bad opinion on the show, and saying that (I’m not talking about *thinking it*) is not professional. Do you think Harry Potter’s translator could say something like this and keep his job ? Sure you don’t have to love your job, but criticizing it in media is a bad attitude. « Cracher dans la soupe », as we say :D

Are you French or not? Because in France "I am not here to judge people's taste" that she has no say in, everyone is free to like what they want. There's nothing bad about it, and she was don't talking about Sailor Moon.

In France, the actors are free to say things, it is because the Austrians or Americans or others are hypocrites that it is necessary to do the same in France.
Here in France, we have freedom of expression, she was not vulgar or insulting in her words.

You have an incredible hatred against this woman even if it means lying about her, even if it means peddling unfounded gossip.

It's funny, the actress who plays Jupiter at Kazé's, you say nothing when she says she hates Sailor Moon ... Total hypocrisy, if you say that about Agnès Gribe, you have to say it to the other too.

You are not neutral and your hatred against Agnes blinds you.

Lol... I’m french so I’m totally in position to criticize the French version, and to understand the subtext in that interview, which you seem to not see.
And I have absolutely no hate for that actress, you’re just overreacting. Criticizing someone for what they said is part of that freedom of speech you’re referring to, you know ?
And I don’t talk about Kaze VA who criticized the show because... well I don’t care honnestly ? Sure if she did that it was unprofessional, but not much more than the whole 90’s French dub which was a masterwork in the area of poor voice acting and bad translation.

By the way your comments about americans and austrians are not acceptable.

Concerning the Americans or Austrians or others, I am talking about the actors, not the people ... We must not mix everything up.

Kazé's staff have the right to say that they don't like Japanese anime where one says clearly hated Sailor Moon, you don't mind. But on the other hand, it is unpleasant that the staff 90 say that.

When you are neutral, you take both into account, not just one.

I have some clips for the Stars French dub, and yeah these are not the French Crystal voices. I think Usagi in Eternal is the same Crystal voice, which I honestly really like. France did a good job with Cystal. But from what I know they never showed Season 3. It is so weird to have season 4, but miss season 3. Sailor Moon will always be such a confusing franchise.

Season 3 of Sailor Moon Crystal in VOSTFR is scheduled on ADN in France. And a French dub is also planned too.
The series should arrive either at the same time as the Netflix release, or a few days before, if all goes well.

I wasn't aware of what that VA said because frankly I don't like dubbed versions, which are almost everytime inferior to the japanese one. If what you say is true about that VA, indeed it's very unprofessional, but in my eyes this kaze french version is "less bad" than the 90's version because at least there is some respect in the adaptation. The old french version blatantly disrespected the series (Helios's voice, god...).

I already invited 4 friends on the 3rd we’re going to make a movie party! 1 month till it’s here!!!!
I'm going to take a day off to watch the movies ! I hope I can get vaccinated to make a party later in the month ^^

I didn't watch the Crystal french dub (some little parts on Youtube) but you're right, it seems to be okay, they lack a little emotion and conviction but I would say that's the way in most anime french version. I just watched some clips again and I don't know if it's a french dub thing, but I can't tell differences between females voices, they all sound a little the same to me ?
I don't know why they didn't release S3. Kaze seems to be a cheap editor in most countries anyway.

It was done for a tv channel. I think it was a kids channel and I have heard they were not ok with the content of s3. Even act 13 was cut a bit for tv version for being too scary. And I guess they decided not to do a straight to dvd blu ray release for s3 without tv broadcast. I find the Crystal dub pleasant. I preger it over the English dub. Actyally to me it is Viz that has several characters sounding exactly the same, and Chibi Usa is grating on my nerves.

If you are a fan, French like me, you certainly bought the DVDs in France to support your license that you like, at least for Japanese dubbing.

If you bought the DVDs, in the making of present in the special DVD (SuperS), you have an interview with 4 actresses, you see some dubbing sessions.

In the interview, none of them talks about Sailor Moon.
-> Marie Nonnenmacher (Jupiter) says that she doesn't like the Sailor Moon anime, and that she would see herself in Tom Sawyer (dubbing).
-> Pascale Chemin (Mercure) only talks about the profession of an actor, on the way to double, but no moment on Sailor Moon.
-> Frédérique Marlot (Venus) only talks about Shakespeare.
-> Pauline de Meurville does not talk about Sailor Moon.

----

Regarding the adaptation of Kazé France: many errors are present.

-> Frédérique Marlot is wrong in the transformation (episode 175).
-> Isabelle Volpé pronounces the wrong titles, recites sentences that do not mean anything in French (attirés par l'odeur les garçons se sont venus)... Grammatical errors, conjugations.
-> Many VO dialogs absent from the VF track, we add things that do not exist in VF.
-> We talk about the special with the vampire where Bunny does not talk about Korean cuisine (in VO they talk about Korean restaurants), but talks about buying garlic sausage from the butcher ... The report ?
-> In the movie S, not all of Venus' attacks are pronounced correctly. Frédérique Marlot erases all the "R's". Croissant d'amour devient Croissant
d'amou...

It's good to want to spit on French 90, while Kazé's VF which wants to be close to Japanese, in the end is hardly better, or even worse!

You denigrated the dubbing of Sailor Moon Crystal, when in the end you said you didn't see it ... just clips on Youtube ... Basically you allow yourself to criticize things you don't watch , which you certainly do not buy, basically your intervention does not add anything to the conversation.

I'm done with you.

For Sailor Moon Crystal, audiences were not good, because the French are pirates, they preferred to illegally download French episodes.
Canal J stopped the broadcast, while Toei had planned a French dub which were forced to cancel. It comes from the dubbing studio where I inquired at the time.

Regarding what you say about the dubbing which TV channel had broadcast things, they did nothing in the end, because the VF dubbing of SMC is faithful to the original version. They haven't changed the basis. Just the name of Mamoru.

I wouldn't buy them even if I were French. I have seen some of season 1 and the video quality was quite bad. Not as bad as VIz DVD but still pretty bad.
On the other hand Crystal had a great dvd/blu ray for season 1 and 2.

Kazé France's DVD encoding is hideous. The subtitling is not faithful at times. They even made you pass Haruka for violinist ...
I just bought the DVDs to get the full VF from seasons 2 to 4, and then I got everything back.
Because I start from the principle I buy to support and then I resell I do not keep, I make a copy, and it goes on sale again.

@sailormoongalaxy It's interesting how much of this I actually understand although my French at School was rather mediocre.

"Discover three uncut Adventures of the Sailor Warriors. Profiting from a short moment of Tranquility, the 'Warriors of the Moon' think back on past Adventures: The Arrival of :luna:, :usagi:'s first Transformation, the group's Formation and different Battles just shortly after (?) the Victory over the Death Busters.
Meanwhile, :haruka: and :mihiru: confront a mysterious Ventriloquist while strange Occurences imply that a Vampire causes Trouble at :chibiusa:'s (?) School.
Peace may only be of short Duration, but the Sailor Warriors are always prepared for Combat as they say…"
Or something similar.
