Less than a minute later, she comments on my facemask (A custom Sailor Mlon mask with the 5 Inner Senshi)... yes, I walk in public as a grown adult male wearing Sailor Moon apparel.
I think adults wearing Sailor Moon apparel is seen as a normal thing these days, judging from the various Sailor Moon goods targeted at adults nowadays, many of which are also quite expensive & seem to be targeted at the more affluent adults too (fans back in the 90s are now approaching their middle age). :)

I sat here reading this, wearing a sailor moon shirt and ball cap. Yeah, most of us original fans have aged up. But we're still fans. Nothing wrong with that at all. Oh, and I'm male too. =)

Lol, yeah, that. FLY!!!! I like that they add the echo in their version.
Actually it's most of the time "FLIEG UND SIEG" which could be translated by "FLY AND CONQUER!" which is kind of cool. We could complain that they didn't actually most of the time translate the real attack names in german but at least they tried most of the time to update the attacks phrases in each seasons (not like in France after season 1... Sailor Moon using "moon healing escalation - cicatrisation lunaire execution" till season 4 is just an example...

I’m not sure how good Todd is as an ADR director, but it should be interesting to see if the dubbing quality improves now with a new studio and director, but the same cast.
I thought he did fine with the returning Haruhi Suzumiya cast for FUNi's Yuki-chan simuldub (recorded from his home studio in LA).

He also directed Glitter Force Doki Doki at Studiopolis for Saban and I'm pretty sure some people here have watched that one.

I have a question but I cannot a video to ask directly. It is about episode 49 in German. I know Usagi is renamed as Bunny in German, but during the time Makoto is donating blood, Usagi ask her something and Ami scolds her, says something that I cannot help but hear as Usagi, or more likely Uzagi. Is she actually calling her Usagi there, or is it something else that I misheard. I do not speak German, but I have watched it in German when I was a child.

yes she definitely says “Usagi” s in German sounds like z. Actually it’s not really a fail she’s called few times by a real name in few episodes Bunny is supposed to be her “Nickname” in the German version (that’s very usual in Germany to call people with “Nickname; for example someone called Joseph will be called “Pepi” I have no idea Why lol).

This I was unaware of. I have never heard it but it has been awhile, and I never watched the whole thing in German, except for when I was a kid. This is a wonderful translation decision to keep both and keep both the name and the joke. Do you remember other times she was called Usagi in the dub

During the first moments after the announcement, euphoria ran through the Spanish Sailor Moon community and very interesting things were said.
The person who has been responsible for the translation and adaptation of the films commented that there would be certain nods to the Spanish dubbing of the 90s but that many other things were imposed or were rejected by Naoko Takeuchi herself, who was also supervising the adaptations to all the languages. We can confirm that she has been more involved than with the rest of Crystal.

Unfortunately, all these comments have been deleted, because unlike other countries like the US, the confidentiality contract prevents talking about it before the release... and Netflix seems quite serious about it. In fact, only the dubber of Sailor Moon has been revealed. A dubber who simply wrote"::)" in the trailer's comments on Twitter also deleted her comment.

Another thing we know is that there will be another trailer from Netflix in which each country will be able to see how the characters sound in the different languages in these movies.
Can't wait!

For France, they would have translated the English terms to stay in touch with the previous dubbing.
In Netflix's French summary, they translated "Dead Moon Circus" into French.
Because later, they said "Dream", if it would not have been French, they would have left the English term.

Can't wait to see the teaser anyway. :)

It happens only few times most of the time when people like Mamoru are angry at her. I’ll try to identify few other scenes. Here in this scene i think they wanted to express the fact that Ami was angry at her and decided to use her real name like a reproach… but most of German fans knows her with the name Bunny.

It is amazing approach, but I think they could haver done it a bit better. Like Haruna calling her Usagi, and maybe Rei. This is a cool adapting decision, that if done properly can be a great way this whole Rabbit think work. I am all in for being faithful, but adaptating as if there is no translation process is going on.

So finally got some answers from the German community. Actually in the first season her name was definitely Bunny (and she was never called Usagi) coming probably from the French anime version. After the first season the Series was bought by a new TV channel - RTL2 - (this is when really it became famous). With the arrival of Chibiusa, instead of renaming her “Klein-Bunny” (small rabbit) they decide to reckon the fact that Bunny was her real name but instead actually her nickname and Usagi her real name… so they called her few times in the second season “Usagi” for viewer to get the new name character “Chibiusa”. Speaking about calling her Usagi it seems that the last time it happens is actually during the third season when Bunny is attacked for her pure heart, Mamoru scream to her “Run Usagi”.

in France, if I remember correctly “Chibiusa” is never named in the second season and become “Camille” in season three (which has nothing to do with Bunny) and in the French first manga edition they called her “Mini-Bunny” which here as sense.

Going back to Netflix. Do you think the movie is going to be proposed in UDH format (even maybe with HDR) ? Or just remains in HD. If so, it would be the first time SAILOR MOON is shown in 4K (upscale or real 4K).

In episode 60, she gives her first name "Bunny". Then in episode 61, Bourdu (Mamo) gives it its name of Camille. Throughout season 2 to season 4, she bears the name Camille.

In episode 67, she tells the dinosaur that her is Bunny (real name) but everyone calls her Camille.

A new viewing is required in you, and in French, that goes without saying.

no thanks like I said “if I remember correctly”. The French version is bad and unbearable to watch I haven’t seen it since probably 15 years and I don’t miss it.

After the first season, the French dub is an horror that should stay where it belongs: the trash. Mamoru’s voice is the worst and the actor absolutely doesn’t care about what he is doing (and he was the director I think ?), as well is his wife who does Jupiter/Pluto/Neptune/Saturn. She even made weird comments about the show in an interview (something like « I’m not here to judge the quality of the series but... »). The absolutely worst was Helios voice, it was just an insult to all viewers, it looked like a parody.
Some voice were okay in the first season, and Usagi’s first VA was nice though.
Anyway the french version was a disgrace and I don’t see who would want to watch this again
