“Cardcaptor Sakura” is another example of an anime that had to be completely edited and censored before being marketed for children in the United States. I am not sure if it made to syndication, though.
The US Version got edited to make it Shonen.

Sailor Moon Crystal’s rating is TV-14 in the United States.

It's also toned down from the manga that ran in a magazine aimed at 4-12 year old girls. Which should tell you ridiculous the whole rating system is

Of course we also went from Lion King and Hunchback getting G ratings to lolol Frozen gettng a PG

I think unsupervised use of social media causes far more damage to kids than an anime.

I watched Sailor Moon as a kid, uncensored Portuguese dub, and I saw nothing wrong with it.
