To be fair, I don't think everyone getting hysterical about the lateness would've helped in any way.

I'm probably one of the few who doesn't care for that image of his. It looks better than Crystal S1. The way he draws the eyes doesn't look like a good fit for all of them impo. Rei and Haruka for example look a little strange (to me).

He‘s a good artist. I think his designs are fresh. I just don‘t like that the faces look in some angles Tadano-esque (in the bad way) and the outers look too young for my taste. I‘m also not a fan of the bubbly hair highlights - but hey - i think it‘s his take on merging all Crystal designs and they look good, especially Moon (who always looked the worst in the reboot).

I agree about the picture, but his character sheets are leagues above all of the Crystermos official ones. Dare I say this is the only time Ami's hair works in this style. Also Usagi looks both cute and beautiful in his style - bonus point for the eyes.

I think Mercury‘s design looks more western influenced, like out of one of the cartoons produced in the west, that are heavily anime-inspired. While i think those designs work well, I personally prefer Sailor Moon designs when ephemeral shoujo meets bold shounen. Which is, I admit, quite of a challenge.
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE an anniversary anime project where all veterans from the 90s anime AND Crystal could create short films, based on the side stories or on original scripts. An anthology project with total creative liberty. Imagine Keiko Iwatas version for Casablanca Memories, a 3 minute clip by Hideaki Anno, an alternative 20min ending for the 90s anime directed by Sato, designed by Ikuko Itoh… so many options!
